Feel Good Friday in Lancaster and Morecambe- Episode 7

Posted on Thursday, March 18, 2021

Welcome to Week 7's Feel Good Friday and what a week we have had!   The local area has turned into a bit of a film set!

In Morecambe

Wednesday was St Patricks Day and one of Ireland's most recognisable faces has been spotted filming in the Morecambe sunshine.  Following the recent success of ITV Drama 'The Bay', Morecambe has once again found itself as the setting for another thrilling TV drama.  'Stay Close' set to appear on Netflix, features a star-studded cast which includes 'Cold Feet' legend James Nesbitt & the multi-talented Eddie Izzard.

In Lancaster

Lancaster has also attracted film crews and producers recently, with popular BBC Drama 'Peaky Blinders' filming scenes for the upcoming series in Williamson Park - Move over Hollywood!!
Staying in Lancaster, we have more great news this week... Covid 19 infection levels remain below the UK average (*happy dance! Yay) - great work everybody!

We also have news of a new Electric Cargo Bike delivery service now in operation by Lancaster resident Jack Lenox.  Jack's bike can carry approx. 220kg of net load throughout the city and the response from local businesses has so far been very positive.  With the benefits of zero carbon emissions and no pollution, Jack has plans to hopefully expand his business in the future!

Around the world

Next stop Benin, West Africa where a talented Sand Artist has unveiled his latest beautiful piece of work. The Artist known as Saip is travelling around the world, creating art depicting giant images of holding hands in a message of peace and togetherness across the world.

And finally...this week Dennis the Menace of The Beano fame has turned 70 years old!  The Beano comic created by DC Comics in Scotland has long been a national institution and mischievous Dennis the Menace (who will forever be a 10-year-old boy by the way) has been a fond memory for many children and families over the years.  Do you have memories of picking up a copy from your local newsagent?  Are your children/grandchildren fans?  We would love to hear!

Do you have any feel good Friday highlights you wish to share in the coming weeks?  Maybe you have an event, celebration or story to share?  Let me know at graham@jdg.co.uk
