First up... let's head across to a North West Wales Supermarket Car Park, where a couple got more than an unexpected item in a basket of shopping!
25-year-old Delyth gave birth to baby Harry in a supermarket car park much to the surprise of her partner, 26-year-old supermarket worker Dean! With suspected appendicitis pain, Delyth went into labour without pain relief en route to the hospital and was accompanied by her mother and sister - whilst unsuspecting partner Dean was inside the supermarket at work! They had no idea Delyth was pregnant but had always planned to start a family one day. Harry came into the world weighing 7lb 7oz and both Mother and child spent the night in Bangor Hospital before heading home as a family of 3. Congratulations! (Or in Welsh llongyfarchiadau!)
News closer to home now and Morecambe FC are creeping up behind League 2 leaders Cambridge United with two great results this week, beating Barrow FC and Salford Utd 2-1 on each occasion. Sitting in 4th currently just 3 points off the top with a game in hand, Shrimps fans are hoping this is their year!
As we look forward to a Summer of hope after Boris Johnson this week announced his Road Map plans in easing us out of lockdown, we learnt that our local hairdressers are planning to reopen for business in April. As a Lancaster independent, TJs Barbers posted on social media "Hopefully opening on the 12th April at the earliest unless Boris says different. Chainsaw ready for all the long hair!" Have you any stories of DIY lockdown hair disasters? Or maybe you're growing a Mullet?
Have you seen the seal down in Half Moon Bay in Heysham? Morecambe bays newest arrival has been spotted frolicking in the Bay this week. It has been spotted on more than one occasion along with a Kestral which has also been sighted visiting a number of residents gardens in the area.
And finally, Morecambe said a last goodbye to Ken Allen, a well-loved man in the area and who's Auto Wrecker business has been running since 1968. As his hearse drove through Morecambe en route to Carnforth we saw a huge turnout of well-wishers including Morecambe Fire Station staff who stood socially distanced applauding. It was great to see the local community come together and pay respects to a renowned, popular man!
