Feel Good Friday in Lancaster and Morecambe- Episode 3

Posted on Thursday, February 18, 2021

Welcome to Week 3's Feel Good Friday!  If the Half term's shenanigans have left you on your knees....relax...pop the kettle on and take some well deserved time out in our little corner of happiness! In this 3 minute read we focus on feel-good stories both nationally and locally and today we begin in the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland to tell you about a very brave Dog...

Neesha an 8-year-old Golden Retriever and her German Shepherd sister Harley were startled when face to face with a Deer on their walk up the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. Harley ran back safely to their owners' parked car, but Neesha vanished.  Their owners frantically searched the Mountains' leaving scent trails, even flew drones.  Their appeals on social media were to no avail but then.... 2 weeks later a couple of Doctors walked the same mountains and discovered Neesha!  Neesha was exhausted after 2 long weeks alone and had to be carried down safely 20km.  Happy to say her recovery is going well and soon she will be back enjoying loads of doggy fun with her sister!

In Lancaster

With spring around the corner and the morning sun rising earlier, Lancaster City Council have this week updated that the Riverside path that runs between Halton and The Holiday Inn is scheduled to reopen later next month! It had been closed whilst extensive flood defence work was carried out along this route. Time to dust off your bicycle!!

Charity in Lancaster and Morecambe

We also have news of 2 local heroes in the area who have done some amazing work for local charities!  Local Morecambe businessman Simon Das braved the skies in a skydive raising over £1000 in support of the local music organisation More Music, Morecambe.  Located in the West end, Morecambe this organisation has been helping young people explore music by regularly running workshops and community events.

In Lancaster, Aladdin who is a law student at Lancaster University is raising funds for charities in Syria, Lancaster and Morecambe. To thank the communities for his warm welcome received since moving here at just 9 years old after fleeing war-torn Syria, Aladdin is set to take on a gruelling virtual 2,645-mile cycling challenge. In addition to this, he has also been volunteering at the Morecambe Food Bank! What an inspiration!

Over in Torrisholme - random acts of kindness!

And finally, some kind-hearted souls gave been spreading their love in Torrisholme! Found in a green space known locally as 'Torrisholme Triangle' off Hall Drive,  5x wrapped bags of sweets are hanging off trees labelled "Random Acts of Kindness - enjoy!"
