Morecambe really is putting itself on the cultural map. Last weekend saw the Morecambe Music Festival. 28 different venues hosted the town 3-day event which saw visitors come from far and wide as well as locally. In the main, the rain held off. It was described as the best music event yet. Comedian Jon Richardson was even spotted in The Station Pub. The town really was buzzing. There is so much revival happening in Morecambe at the moment. It really is great to see!
Talking of places buzzing, Lancaster City Centre has footfall which is above PRE-PANDEMIC levels! Whilst other parts of the country are reporting that fall is still down, Lancaster's footfall is reported by Lancaster bid as 3% up. We have not just locals but lots of day-trippers and people enjoying staycations. It's great for our shops, independent businesses and also the hospitality sector! Talking of which, have you heard that Lancaster's Cappuvino won Tripadvisor #travellerschoice2021 award. If you haven't checked them out, we recommend that you do!
This weekend it is the return of Lancaster Pride. The organizers promise a huge parade which starts at 11 am at Sulyard Street and heads around Lancaster one way system. There are lots planned with entertainment in Dalton Square. Tickets are just £5. In the lineup are lots of great tribute acts and former X factor contestant Seann Smith will be performing. Even the weather is looking good!
It's not just humans that need blood donations. Could your doggy help save another? Sadly Boots our doggy isn't heavy enough, to take part. The pet blood bank is coming to Lancaster later this year and they are looking for volunteer dogs who can donate blood to help save another doggy. How heartwarming is that!
And finally, have you seen the wildflowers that are popping up on our grasslands around the city? We spotted the ones at Skerton triangle yesterday. They are so pretty. It is an initiative by Lancaster Council to manage the grasslands better and create better habitats for our wildlife and bees. We love all things nature!
Thanks for reading this week's feel-good Friday. We wish you a fabulous weekend whatever you choose to do!
