Attention all Cheese Fans. I am pleased to announce that today, June 4th 2021 we celebrate National Cheese Day! Originating in America and acknowledged across the globe, what better way to spend the day than enjoying your favourite cheeses and perhaps discover a new favourite? We have a number of cheese fans in the office who I'm sure will join in.....
Bank Holiday Monday was the hottest day of 2021 so far! With temperatures reportedly soaring up to 24.65 C, it was great to have the sun shining after the fourth wettest May on record... fingers crossed this is the start of a sunny, hot summer here in the North West!
In Lancaster
Massive congratulations to our friends at Beyond Radio and Olive Branch, who have both received a Queen's award for Voluntary Service. Both based in Lancaster, Beyond Radio is the area's community based Radio station which has been operating since July 2016. The Olive Branch is a non profit organisation that supports people who are in difficulty through homelessness, addiction and debt. Their Food Bank has been an essential service in recent years and you may have become aware of this service from our Christmas appeal in recent years. Massive congratulations to you both!
In Morecambe
Morecambe Equestrian Centre held an open day on Monday, which proved very popular indeed. Located just past The Trimpell, the centre focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating Horses. Visitors on the day had the opportunity to ride a horse, feed donkeys, pigs and ferrets. With a number of independent stalls selling cakes, candles and artwork, All funds raised on the day have gone back into the upkeep of the yard and care of the animals. It was great to see the cute piglets that are just week's old!
And finally...Morecambe FC did it! They gained promotion to League One with a nail biting, extra time 1-0 win in the Wembley sunshine. This is the highest position the club have reached in over 100 years and the club has ambitiously set their sights next season on promotion to The Championship.
I hope you've enjoyed this week's read and if you have any feel good news you wish to share, let me know! In the meantime, enjoy your weekend, keep smiling and remember -"Better Days are on their way way"
