Hello! Welcome to the last FEEL GOOD FRIDAY of April and just in time for the Bank Holiday Weekend....where did that sneak up from?!
In this 3 minute read we look back on the best fun-filled, feel-good headlines in our local area. So grab yourself a nice hot brew and get yourself comfortable!
We start with sport and Morecambe Cricket Club's opening match of the season at Woodhill Lane, Morecambe which featured one of the sports famous faces take to the crease! Morecambe beat visitors St Anne's, whose line up included former Lancashire and England, Ashes winning fast bowler, Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff and his 15-year-old son, Corey! Despite this, Morecambe got into top gear to take the win, 157-6 with 11 balls to go...HOWZAT?!
If your thinking of what to do with the family this Bank Holiday, Lancaster resident Barbara Robinson may have the answer! The 71-year-old grandmother also known as ' Granny B', has painted 100 pebbles which are going to be hidden in a variety of places in the local area. In honour of the late great Sir Captain Tom's 100 challenge, Barbara is asking that for every pebble found, the lucky person who finds one uploads a photo to social media and make a donation to her charity page. K eep your eyes peeled in Williamson Park, Lancaster, Happy Mount Park and Promenade in Morecambe, Knowleys Road and Bay Cottage playpark in Heysham. We have some heartwarming news of a revolutionary medical procedure that took place on a Lancaster Man almost a year ago, proving a huge success! 62-year-old Graham Moran was the first and only man so far to undergo a unique heart operation, and as a result, he now has the 'world's smallest heart pump' installed. After extensive consultations re just how weak Graham's heart was to carry out traditional procedures, Doctors described this operation as really a 'last resort. We are pleased to report that the operation was a success and it has significantly helped Graham almost a year on. We wish you well for the future!
And finally, are you or any of your friends or family a budding artist? Would you like your work showcased in one of a number of public spaces in Morecambe? A local group of 'Alley Champions' have been helping the Morecambe communities clear and maintain their alleyways and Labour councillor Margaret Pattinson has taken to social media to appeal for assistance in their latest project. With the assistance of talented members of the public, the group are planning to paint a number of beautiful murals in alleyways in and around the town. Morecambe already has an extensive number of murals and artwork in and around the seafront and we look forward to seeing the finished work in the future! But do you call it an alley, snicket or a ginnel..... ??
Join me next week for another Feel Good Friday. Why not let me know what you have planned or been up to? We would love to hear from you! Until next time Stay Safe, Keep Smiling and Remember..."Better Days are Coming!"
