Hello and welcome to this weeks Feel Good Friday read, where we look at feel good, heartwarming and truly inspiring news from our local area this week. 'Oh, We do like to be beside the seaside!!!'
Morecambe
Morecambe Bay Beaches have been included in the latest National Seaside Awards! 'Keep Britain Tidy' have this week named both Morecambe's North and South Beaches amongst 11 others in the North West area. This really is superb news again for the local Tourism Industry as more visitors and families opt for Staycations this summer and such awards are another reason to visit our fabulous, seaside destination.
Staying in Morecambe, a great grandad is celebrating his 100th birthday this week after recently recovering from Covid 19. In December 2020, Tom Hanley's family were told by a doctor that it would be very unlikely for Tom to pull through and recover but thankfully, Tom fought on and this week received a commemorative birthday card from the Queen and enjoyed a small family get together in his residence in Bare.
Lancaster and Morecambe
Residents in the surrounding Lancaster and Morecambe area aged between 34 - 39, have this week been invited for their Covid 19 vaccine jab. The national vaccine rollout has proven successful so far and this is the latest age group to be able to book appointments as soon as they receive their text from their registered GP. 2 jabs of the vaccine are reportedly 95% effective against covid 19 - thank you to all the staff who are assisting with this!

Heysham
And finally... we could not finish without acknowledging the love and generosity of our local communities who have turned out in the masses to support and help families affected by Sunday morning's tragic events in Heysham.
A Suspected Gas Explosion ripped through a Heysham street on Sunday morning tragically killing a 2-year-old boy and seriously injuring 4 others. In response to the tragic news Local schools, Supermarkets, The Hurley Flyer pub all appealed online for help with other numerous Just Giving pages quickly being set up. After a huge response clothing, household items and cash donations from the public and local businesses meant over £40,000 has been raised so far as the donations keep coming in. Our communities did not disappoint and showed proof again that so many pull together and support each other in these hard times.
I hope you've enjoyed this week's read and if you have any positive news you wish to share, let me know!
In the meantime... Enjoy your weekend, keep smiling and remember -"Better Days are coming"
