The lady asked why don’t all estate agents name their photos on Rightmove. She showed me a house she was looking at online and asked if I could work out which bedroom was which and also which bathroom belonged to which room/floor. To be honest, it wasn’t clear - and after reading the wording 3 times - we slowly worked out the bedrooms. The bathrooms we couldn’t!
Naming your photos online is essential. You want to make it really easier for a prospective buyer to know exactly what you are selling. On some homes - eg a 1-bed apartment for example, it is easy to work out but not when you get a 5-bed period house like this was! Now, this is something you can’t do yourself. You agent, however, can do it very simply. It surprises me why more agents haven’t worked this one out yet. By naming your photos - a potential buyer can also easily cross reference these against your floor plan.
There’s a big debate in the industry as to how photos should be ordered and to be honest, there is no right or wrong. We like to begin with a great outside shot, followed by our favourite feature ( Rightmove shows two photos on the search results ) and then we position the rest of the photos in the order of the home to give it a sense of flow. Afer all, a photo speaks a thousand words, therefore, the flow of your home also tells it a story.
Occasionally a home begs to photographed portrait-style, however, Rightmove doesn’t really support portrait photos so, for your online marketing material, I always recommend landscaped photos.
