Energy-saving light bulbs are great, however, they do take a little bit of time to light up. Unless you’ve left your lights on, this can be a bit of a problem on viewings! Why not swap them for the low energy LED bulbs. A 5-watt bulb can provide the same light as a 30-watt bulb, that’s up to 6 times the energy-saving and your room is much brighter too!
Lamps are great at creating an atmosphere. Add one to the corner of the lounge, next to your favourite armchair and you have created a cosy reading spot. Place them on either side of your bed and you’ve created a snug, relaxing room. Lamps can create big statements. Like furniture, they become part of the room. Consider both table and standing lamps.
A statement light fitting speaks volumes. It can give a room a feeling of luxury. It can define the look you are trying to achieve and pull an entire scheme in. Stylish chandeliers impress. The light shimmers of them capturing buyers imaginations. Modern or traditional, the choice is yours. Consider the age and overall style of your home. Use lights to create that fabulous first impression.
Kerb appeal is just important at night as it is just during the day. Buyers will often drive around checking out an area. Now that nights are drawing in, you want your home to stand out. Exterior lights welcome. They make you feel safe. You could opt for a traditional lantern style giving a soft glow next to your front door or for something more fashionable choose a light that illuminates the front of your home!
They are so many ways you can use lamps and light. Think about fairy lights. I love to put them in glass jars as a table centrepiece. Or battery-powered candles, you don’t have to worry about blowing them out! Lighting really can transform a house into a fabulous home for sale.
