Each time I go away one of must do rituals is to explore surroundings. I open my door to my hotel room with excitement. I feel the soft sheets of the crisp white bedding and I run to the bathroom to check out the luxury bathroom toiletries. Before Mr JDG has the chance to open his case, I whip my camera out, ready to take a photo!
We’ve just come back from the Sani Resort in Greece. It is a family-friendly resort and it is truly stunning. I thought I’d use this opportunity to share with you 4 simple ways to get this luxury look in your home.
Your bed should take centre stage when creating a luxurious bedroom. Have you noticed how the beds are always beautifully made with white Egyptian cotton bedding and how the pillows are stacked?
The curtains, cushions and bed throw all match. There are always two bedside tables, 2 lamps and often a side chair. It’s clutter free. If only there was a chocolate on our pillow each evening!
Think of the last luxury hotel you entered. What did you see? We were greeted by a fabulous candle display, a beautiful arrangement of orchids and large pieces of artwork. You might wonder how to recreate this look at home. It’s quite simple. You just need to make sure your entrance is firstly uncluttered and then create a focal point.
Why not pop a beautiful plant on a side table. Or if there is no space, hang a stylish a piece of artwork on the wall?
Everybody loves a hotel bathroom. If you have a white bathroom suite already you already have the beginnings of a luxury bathroom. Make sure your grout is sparkling clean and tiles shine. Upgrade your taps and shower head. Luxury hotels always have fabulous shower heads!
Make sure your matching towels are plump and perfectly folded. Add the best toiletries - think Jo Malone, Molton Brown or why not be naughty and bring some home from your next trip away!
Flowers and plants are a key design element in most luxury hotels. Everywhere you turn from the entrance lobbies, hotel restaurants, even the public bathroom facilities all feature greenery. Elegant, impressive flower arrangements are in key areas such as the main reception areas.
Take this idea and add flowers to our home. Arrangements in white and green can look stunning. Introduce fruit arrangements such as a vase filled with lemons into your kitchen. Why not pop a plant in the bathroom too!
You don’t have to spend a fortune creating a luxury hotel look in your home. It’s all about keeping it clutter free and the way you pull your rooms together to create a home that flows. Create this look and not only will you have a home that you love more, you'll also have a home which will achieve a great price and sell quicker when you decide to move!
