When you think of Scotforth, like most, you probably think of the leafy long A6 linking Galgate, Lancaster University and the South of Lancaster with the City centre. This, in turn, attracts plenty of workers from our cities main employers - The Universities and The Lancaster Royal Infirmary. Buses as regular as every 10-15 minutes will usher you in each direction with the addition of the cycle lane to use too. Commuters travelling further afield benefit from being only 2 miles from the M6.
Every so often, if you are anything like me, you just want to put away the pots and pans, throw the spatula back in the draw and turn off the oven. Your first thought may be to head into the centre itself - and why not - there are plenty of amazing restaurants and bars to choose from. But what if you look a little closer to home....hmmm, ' but what is there in Scotforth?
Well, plenty in fact - what with an abundance of tasty takeaways to choose from, The Boot and Shoe, a well-regarded family pub offering fantastic food and drink, pleasant surroundings and a popular beer garden for the summer months. A trendy 'micropub' brewery to sample some fine artisan craft beers has recently opened and there are even plans for a second micropub to open on Scotforth Rd....music to the ears of all real ale lovers.....
Probably one of the main reasons so many families chose LA1 4 to raise a family is the well-regarded nurseries and primary schools available within walking distance. Scotforth St Paul's C of E school is such a popular primary school, well regarded and conveniently located. A short walk away and you will find a further two sought after primary schools - Bowerham School and Moorside - in short, you'll have plenty of attractive options for your children!
Besides the selection of takeaways, LA1 4 is well serviced by the local supermarket Booths. Offering plenty of local produce - it's a firm favourite with locals. Just need the basics? Try the paper shop just down Scotforth Road, where you will also find a hairdresser, bakers and fuel stations and even a picturesque church.
The great thing about LA1 4 is the sheer collection of different homes available. Ranging from 1 bedroom flats up to 5-6 bedroom period properties. In between you have plenty of bungalows, semi-detached and terrace homes, ensuring budget requirements can be met.
To summarise - LA1 4 is one of the most popular areas in South Lancaster to live. Be it the village feel that comes with living here or the abundance of amenities on your doorstep or the convenience of its location for workers - it is certainly an area to consider!
