Did you know that the LA1 2 postcode is one of the greenest in our city?  19.8% of the postcode is actually open green space.  This includes the Riverside,  the canal,  playing areas and sports fields and of course, not forgetting - Ryelands Park which has green flag status. 

This month we are focussing on LA1 2, an area where I used to live and one which I still hold close to my heart. Since I lived here, times have changed, the bay gateway has opened and Ryelands Park has won green flag status. However, I thought I’d highlight what I personally love about LA1 2 and why it’s an area that I think is often overlooked by many!

Welcome to LA1 2 - a residential suburb which lies just 1 mile north of Lancaster City Centre.   To reach LA1 2 - you need to navigate the famous Lancaster one way system and cross over the Greyhound Bridge which takes you over the River Lune.

As you cross over the river you are greeted by Ryelands Park,  once the home of Lord Ashton and now an award-winning green flag park.
